DARK KNIGHT passes $1,000,000,000.00
"The Dark Knight" has become the fourth film to take in more than $1 billion in worldwide box office.
Warner Bros. made the announcement Friday afternoon, saying that the combined domestic and international gross had totaled $1,001,082,160 to date -- about $533 million domestically and $567 million overseas.
"Knight" had been about $4 million short of the 10-figure mark when Warner Bros. re-released it into Imax screens on Jan. 23, the day after its eight Oscar nominations were announced. Grosses from Ecuador also helped nudge the Batpic over the mark, a spokeswoman said.
Only "Titanic," with $1.8 billion, "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" have topped the billion-dollar worldwide mark previously.
"Knight" also is the second-highest domestic grosser of all time, trailing only "Titanic."
Warner also noted that it's the largest 2-D digitally re-mastered Imax release in the domestic market with $49.6 million and worldwide with $64.9 million.

the informers
based off thee most insane book is this movie. the cast is too extended to name but this was brad renfros last movie before his death.
theres a bio on the movie:
Sex, drugs, and new wave...Los Angeles in the early 1980s: a time of excess and decadence, and nobody captures it better than Bret Easton Ellis as he coadapts his own acclaimed novel for the screen. Its multistrand narrative deftly balances a vast array of characters, who represent both the top of the heap (a Hollywood dream merchant, a dissolute rock star, an aging newscaster) and the bottom (a voyeuristic doorman and an amoral ex-con). Connecting his intertwining strands are the quintessential Ellis protagonists—a group of beautiful, blonde young men and women who sleep all day and party all night, doing drugs—and one another—with abandon, never realizing that they are dancing on the edge of an abyss.Gregor Jordan returns to Sundance (Two Hands and Buffalo Soldiers played at previous Festivals) with a glamorous and gritty exposé of a culture where too much was never enough. He presents both the seductive and repellent sides of a time when safe sex meant being on the pill. Featuring a truly all-star cast who are at the top of their game, The Informers is a scathing descent into the morally bankrupt core beneath L.A.'s superficial beauty. It is both titillating and horrifying as it captures an era on the verge of an implosion whose effects we are still feeling today.

boogie boogie boogie!!!
this guy is amazing. i first saw his book "its all good" at the turntable lab in LA on fairfax. then i did a lot of research to find out who he is. he gets into these gangs and documents the lowest of lows and literally the highest of highs. meaning latina girls shooting up on a bare mattress while their child is in a room. his stuff is moving in a good and bad way... it depends on how you look at the glass. check out his site for daily updates.

today is a sad day...
mickey rourke's beloved best friend passed away today. loki passed away at the ripe old age of 18. for a chiuhauha thats unbelievable. as mickey said several times before that his chiuhauhas were the only ones who didn't turn their backs on him. loki has been in movies with mickey to the red carpet as seen below. my prayers go out to you, tinkerbell, and kiera. top photo is from the fabulous kiera smith.
henry rollins is backkkkkk
Today Santa Monica-based public radio station KCRW divulged the details of the latest addition to their DJ roster. Black Flag front man Henry Rollins, who completed his first radio work nearly twenty years ago at the aforementioned station, will commandeer local airwaves every Saturday from 6 to 8 PM. The big move, of course, comes on the heels of Indie 103's untimely demise in mid-January. It is uncertain what the exact driving force of the decision to sign on with KCRW was. However, it can be surmised that since Indie shuttered—subsequently regressing to an online-only broadcast—its demographic has been severely constrained. KCRW is poised to anoint Rollins during tomorrow's edition of Morning Becomes Eclectic with Jason Bentley. But I do miss Indie.

tears for a trainwreck
i really dont like hearing about people being "emotionally moved" by an artist or a painting. but when i went to the moma back in manhattan tears came to my eyes when i crawled into the jackson pollock room. he is one of the reasons i started painting. heres a lil something on him.
shoulder pads? might be cool...
i dont know if im down with marc jacobs bringing shoulder pads back. whenever i get a back from the 80s i make a small cut in the lining cut out the pads and sew it back up. with marc claiming that this collection is "my clubbing days" it shall be interesting. There were bright colors and pleated, stonewashed jeans (Z Cavaricci, anyone?), with high waists paired with shiny satin tops. sounds like a nyc club back in day... right? what i do love about it though is the use of colors. were in a very down and out time in america right now and what better way to put out a positive energy than to blind people with your pink satin shirt! one blogger said "looks like life on mars" lagerfeld would hate that. but i cant say i dont agree with them.

fashion week new york is on the cat walk with techno music
charlotte ronsons show was today it was fur free but full of hotties apparently.
The fur-free show - sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States - was a more grown up version of Ronson's usual casual, cool-girl chic. And while she successfully played with patterns - tartan, houndstooth and a feminine silk tulip print - the best pieces were the ones you could picture her famous friends in. Highlights included a wool and denim zip-up dress, tweed double-breasted vest with a back bow paired with an electric blue mini and the suede "Dominiqe" boots with over-sized knit cuffs.
on a side note... the ronsons are taking over. samantha and DJing gigs, charlotte as a designer, mark who has been up for more grammys, and thier little sister annabelle who modeled. damn that family....
